Stefanie Milroy, MPH, CHES, CHC
Director

Stefanie is a graduate of The University at North Carolina at Greensboro where she received both her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education (’04) and her Master of Public Health (’06).  While attending UNCG, Stefanie received her certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. She is also a certified health and wellness coach.

Prior to becoming the Director of HealthyUNCG in July 2013, she served as the Executive Director of the Be Active-UNCG Partnership from 2010-2013. She has also served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Public Health Education at UNCG since 2007. Stefanie’s previous work includes Director of Health Education at the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness and as Intervention Coordinator for the Cooperative Lifestyle Intervention Program at Wake Forest University.

In addition to her service role, as director of employee wellness at UNCG, Stefanie is an associate professor in the Department of Public Health Education and currently instructs in the Workplace Wellness Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program.

Stefanie is an advocate for creating a culture of wellness for employees of UNCG and is one of the founding members of the now annual statewide worksite wellness conference for universities and community colleges, Making the Grade in Worksite Wellness, which she has gone on to host each year.  Stefanie is a Greensboro native and enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff; 4 children, Gracie, Lila, Jett, and Emily; dogs Frank & Scoof, cat Bolt, and gecko Mango!

 

HealthyUNCG Wellness Coordinators/ Graduate Assistants and Interns

Nia Battle
Graduate Assistant

Nia is a second-year Master of Public Health student at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Alongside pursuing her Master’s, Nia will earn a post-baccalaureate certification in Workplace Wellness and another post bacc in Health Coaching. She currently works as one of two graduate assistants with HealthyUNCG.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Winston-Salem State University. During her time at WSSU, Nia was introduced to Public Health by her former professor, Dr, Kineka Hull. Since then, Nia has been afforded opportunities to work and volunteer in multiple public health areas. Nia continues to work towards gaining insight and skills to help develop her to practice in the areas of health promotion, minority mental health, and LGBTQ+ health policy. In her spare time, Nia enjoys hanging out with friends, exercising, and working on her cooking brand, PurposelyMade.

 

 

 

Emari Swinton
Intern

Emari Swinton is a graduating senior in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology. Emari is an intern with HealthyUNCG and is assisting with program coordinating and management, marketing and communications. Specifically, Emari is developing a series of one-minute, “Movement Minutes,” designed to support employees stretching and having opportunities to move while at their desk throughout the workday. She is also overseeing a project designed to enhance the utility of our Fitness Lending Library. Emari has an ongoing passion for exercise science and the overall development of health and wellness within communities. In her leisure time she enjoys painting, listening to music and collecting vinyls.

Samantha Lagrama
Intern

Samantha Lagrama is from Asheboro, NC and is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She is currently a graduate student at UNCG studying Health and Wellness Coaching, as well as a student athlete competing in her fifth year as a member of the UNCG softball program. Samantha is currently an intern with HealthyUNCG and is working as a health coach with our diabetes self management program. Upon completion of her graduate program, she plans to attend Life University to study Chiropractic Medicine. Samantha’s interests include sports, outdoors, and art.
