Walk With Ease – 6 week Beginner Walking Program 
Begins August 1st
Virtual with in person walking group option

The Office of State Human Resources is inviting UNCG employees, along with other employees across NC, to join in a free beginners walking program. Walk With Ease is an evidenced based program developed by the Arthritis Foundation. No matter if you need relief from pain or just want to be more active, this 6 week online program can teach you and support you in making physical activity part of your every day life.

Protein shakes and smoothies can be a great addition to your dietary regimen, but when is the best time to use them? Join us for a  presentation and cooking demonstration sponsored by OSHR Wellness and LifeStyle Medical Center. Katie Godin, RD, LDN is excited to help guide you through the ins and outs of protein powders, shakes and smoothies by helping you understand the best times to use them and some creative ways to go about doing so. After her brief presentation, Katie will then show you how to make a smoothie bowl (Raspberry-Peach-Mango Smoothie Bowl) and her go-to Protein Shake (Chocolate/Banana/Peanut Butter), as well as some other creative ways to use protein powders. Recipes will be shared with those that sign up for the event.

Healthy Eating on the Run

Our culture is on the move! And, as a result, the use of convenience foods is on the rise. In fact, the average American eats out 6 meals a week. This may include a morning run through the drive-thru, take-out after a game, or pizza delivery. There is no shortage of opportunities to find convenient and tasty foods at every turn. However, when we consider that 6 in 10 Americans have a chronic health condition and 4 in 10 have 2 or more, we must question if this abundance is good for us. In this class, you will become a more selective consumer when it comes to eating on the run. You will learn which foods are a go and which should be a no! You will also gain strategies that make eating healthy on the run easier and more sustainable for you.

ActiveU is HealthyUNCG’s free employee fitness program. ActiveU offers free group fitness and open swim hours at the Kaplan Center for Wellness. A Kaplan Center membership is not needed, however you will need an ActiveU pass in order to access ActiveU programs.
